The Sailor’s Goodbye – Cyanotype printing on cotton fabric and embroidery
The story of João Cândido, a black sailor who was the son of slaves and led an important revolt in Brazil called the “Rebellion on the whip (Revolta da Chibata)”. After being arrested, he worked on two iconic and delicate embroideries that revealed aspects of his relationship with the navy and his ideals.

노예의 아들 출신 흑인 선원 주앙 칸디두의 이야기는 브라질에서 “채찍의 반란”이라는 중요한 반란을 이끌었다.
그는 체포된 뒤 해군과의 관계와 자신의 이상을 드러내는, 두 가지의 상징적이고 섬세한 자수 작업을 했다.
