The Magical Sound of a Moktak / Author: Seung won, Han
This is the story of an old and deaf Buddhist monk. Even though he can hear no sounds, he steadily beats on his moktak (a wooden percussion instrument used during the recitation of sutras, mantras, or other Buddhist texts). The sound of his moktak is so wonderful that it calms the listener. For that reason, many other monks want to have his moktaks and the old monk is pressed to carve them faster and faster. Nevertheless the aged monk continues to make moktaks with steadfastness and happiness and in his example readers learn the proper way to live and the virtue of wisdom.
