Metaphorically, each ax found will be a new tree, and reveal that human actions can devastate or preserve nature, depending on what we choose to do.

이 책에서 인간과 나무는 공존한다. 그러나 도끼가 나타나면서 예측할 수 없는 결말로 꼬이게 된다.
각 도끼는 새로운 나무를 찾게 되고, 인간은 선택에 따라 자연을 보전하거나 파괴할 수 있음을 은유적으로 드러낸다.
