Ellis Vance has always been a close friend to Nami Island. In 2010, as a main project for Nami Island International Children's Book Festival (NAMBOOK-010), he proposed a terrific idea that invited international authors and illustrators for children's book from 22 nations and published the anthology of story, titled "Peace Story".

The book features 22 different stories under the same theme which is 'peace' and shows how differently the meaning of peace is said in each country. In the interview of Ellis Vance with Heart to Heart, a Korean TV Programme, he talked about how he started being involved in IBBY (International Board on Books for Young People), his passion for children's book as well as for children in need, NAMBOOK-010 and 'Peace Story'. He indeed took the initiative throughout the process of publication of 'Peace Story' especially in organising international committee and the meeting in Seoul.

Ellis mentioned himself  was a passionate reader when he was a child and serious about education using books for children. Towards the end, he gave a piece of advice to parents about how to pick good books for their children.
